Energize Your Plate is a nutritional program to encourage an increased consumption of whole foods.

How it works:

Easy as 1, 2, 3! You can:

  • Earn 1 point for each serving of fruits or vegetables each day
  • Earn 2 points for each meal that looks like the MyPlate icon
  • Earn 3 points for each bonus activity
    • Try a new fruit or vegetable
    • Share your healthy snack or meal on social media using the #energizeSNHU
    • Bring a healthy snack to work
    • Eat five different colors in one day

MyPlate Recommends:

Balancing Calories:

  • Enjoy your food but eat light and often
  • Avoid oversized portions

Foods to Increase:

  • Make half your plate vegetables
  • Eat whole grains (like brown rice, quinoa, farro, etc.)
  • Switch to fat-free or low-fat milk options (try unsweetened almond milk)

Foods to Reduce:

  • Avoid and limit processed foods like pre-packaged items with added sodium, sugars and preservatives
  • Be mindful of sodium and ingredients in frozen foods, soups and breads
  • Avoid sugary drinks
