Overview: Those who are physically active tend to live longer, healthier lives. Research shows that even moderate physical activity – such as 10,000 steps a day of brisk walking – significantly contributes to a longer, healthier life. Regular exercise can also help lower blood pressure, reduce body weight, control blood sugar, improve cholesterol levels, and build stronger, denser bones.
The Walktober Challenge is a month long walking challenge designed to guide you through the benefits of walking, encourage you to incorporate a walk into your daily routine, and inspire you to make walking a priority.
Challenge Instructions: Your goal is to get 10,000 steps per day. Each day of the challenge, simply select the date you wish to log and enter the number of steps for that day. If you have a tracking device, click on the profile button in the My Challenges tab to sync it for automatic uploads.
You must record at least 125,000 steps to complete the challenge.
If you are unable to record your activity online, you may complete the Paper Tracking Form and submit to the GPA Wellness Department (firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 469-445-3151) at the end of the challenge to receive credit.
