(Edit this general description for your challenge)
The Walking Tournament will promote wellness by encouraging participants to walk more often during the day. A Walking Tournament is a single-elimination style tournament which consists of a series of one-week rounds beginning with the seed round. During the seed round, participants are ranked based on the number of steps entered into the system. At the end of the seed round the top 64, 32, 16, 8, or 4 participants move on to the next round where they compete head-to-head with the winner advancing to the next round. These rounds continue until a winner can be determined. In the event of a tie, the participant with the higher ranking will advance to the next round.
Participants may use a pedometer or other step tracker to record the number of daily steps taken and record this number into the ChallengeRunner.com system either through the website or by using the ChallengeRunner smartphone apps. The totals of those steps are then compared against one another and a real-time tournament bracket is made available.
This challenge will run until a winner can be determined. At the conclusion of six weeks, the participants with the top two recorded steps will be awarded the following:
- First Place Award
- Second Place Award
The Walking Challenge with Fitness Trackers has the following characteristics:
- In the tournament bracket, each participant is able to see where they stand in relation to other participants using real names.
- Participants are allowed to enter unlimited steps each day.
- Data should be entered every day. This is especially true on the last day of a given round since only the round winners advance to the next round.
