Description:

Did you know that people who walk on a regular basis have increased muscle strength, higher energy levels and improved health and well-being? Walking helps reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. Health professionals recommend walking at least 10,000 steps a day to achieve those benefits.

So, get ready to move, because during January of 2017, WHEDA will be holding a Fitness Challenge!

Think you can’t do it? There are lots of ways to sneak more steps into your day. Take the stairs, walk at lunch or on your coffee break. Have a walking meeting. Walk to your co-worker’s desk instead of sending an email. And walk your way to some amazing prizes!

There are 2 ways to win:

 

Individual Challenge:

For each week in January, take 70,000 steps per week and your name will get entered in the draw to win a prize!  You have 4 chances to win:

Monday, January 2 to Sunday, January 8 – submit your steps on Monday, January 9

Monday, January 9 to Sunday, January 15 – submit your steps on Monday, January 16

Monday, January 16 to Sunday, January 22 – submit your steps on Monday, January 23

Monday, January 23 to Tuesday, January 31 – submit your steps on Wednesday, February 1 (90,000 steps required due to two extra days)

 

WHEDA Challenge:

The person with the highest total number of steps for the month of January will win a prize!

You will can use your WHEDA pedometer, an activity tracker like a Fitbit or Apple Watch, or you can download the free app Moves on your phone.

 

While this will be on the honor system, please make sure we can verify your results, so if it’s not trackable, make sure to take a picture before you reset!
